The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a high-caliber Butterfly PMO Lead to spearhead a multi-year international business and technology transformation program. This is not a "business as usual" role; You will be at the heart of a portfolio of up to 200 interconnected projects spanning every function of the organization implemented across 50+ countries. This is not a technology program—it is a business-led transformation. Your role will be to bridge corporate strategy with disciplined execution, ensuring we build the critical capabilities needed to deliver on our strategic ambitions and create tangible value across all our global markets.

 

What are the highlights of the Butterfly PMO Lead role?

The role heads and manages our growing PMO team, distributed across our centers of gravity, Paris and Barcelona, as well as the broader regional organization. Helping to build and evolve this PMO team is a key focus during your first year in this management role.

The PMO Lead is accountable for enterprise-wide delivery discipline, ensuring that strategic initiatives are translated into executable programs, delivered on time, within scope, and with transparent trade-offs.

Primary role: Operational layer, focused on delivery; Oversee project delivery discipline planning, managing interdependencies, enforcing governance cadence, operational reporting and progress tracking.

Focus areas: Project execution control, integrated plan and timeline adherence, risk escalation & mitigation, interdependency management, delivery scope management and reporting cadence, successful execution of end-to-end delivery

Governance & escalation: Operates within program governance (program leadership meeting, workstreams meetings); escalations handled per functional hierarchy. Prepares and chairs change control board, joint design authority etc.

Interactions with vendors / partners: Coordinates for timely deliverables and milestones within contractual scope across delivery vendors, ensures quality and adherence to the standards

Typical Outputs: RAID logs, weekly progress reports, stage gate readiness decks, stream/region/program leadership decks

Main responsibilities:

Main responsibilities of the PMO Lead consist of the following areas:

Portfolio Governance & Strategy

  • Manage and maintain a dynamic portfolio of over 200 projects , 50 programs, implemented in >50countries

  • Prioritize resources across the portfolio to align with business objectives

  • Control KPIs and success metrics to track health, progress and adoption across the portfolio

Program Oversight & Risk Management

  • Own the integrated execution plan as the single source of truth for project status, dependencies, critical paths, and milestone tracking across all 200+ projects.

  • Administer and continuously improve PMO standards, including tooling, dashboards, playbooks, methodologies, and governance forums to ensure operational excellence.

  • Secure on-time, in-full, at-cost delivery with consistent quality standards, applying fit-for-purpose delivery models (waterfall, agile, hybrid) tailored to project needs.

  • Proactively manage program-level risks and issues with robust mitigation plans, contingency strategies, and comprehensive reporting on progress, costs, and KPIs.

  • Enforce methodology discipline and accountability across the entire program portfolio, holding workstreams, system integrators, vendors, and project leads accountable for deliverables and timelines.

  • Ensure full integration of technical cutover plans, embedding adoption milestones and deployment criteria into the master program plan.

Program-level stakeholder management

  • Be the operational face of the program to Senior Leadership

  • Collaborate with international cross-functional teams for delivery and to ensure local market readiness

  • Support and mentor project managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

 Team Leadership & PMO/OCM Unit Coordination

  • Build and lead a high-performing internal PMO team of 7 professionals, setting clear expectations, performance standards, and development paths to foster delivery excellence.

  • Manage the External PMO/OCM partner, ensuring alignment with program objectives, quality standards, and contractual commitments while driving collaborative performance.

  • Coordinate the integrated PMO/OCM Program unit across core functions (non-exhaustive):

    • Portfolio & Demand Management — Strategic prioritization, capacity planning, and demand governance

    • Delivery Facilitation — Execution discipline, methodology adherence, and cross-stream coordination

    • Business & Regional PMO — Bridging global standards with local realities across 50+ countries

    • Organizational Change Management (OCM) — Leading change strategy, stakeholder engagement, communication planning, training coordination, and adoption enablement to ensure sustainable transformation across all organizational levels

About you:

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • 12+ years in program, portfolio, or transformation leadership roles.

  • Proven experience running complex, multi-stream portfolios in large or fast-changing organizations.

  • Experience orchestrating complex multi-vendor delivery environments, including systems integrators, consultancies, software vendors, and offshore delivery partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge senior stakeholders and enforce decisions.

  • Track record of improving existing programs or imposing delivery discipline where it did not exist.

  • Strong strategic judgment paired with operational rigor.

  • Concise, fact-based, and decisive communication.

  • High tolerance for conflict and ambiguity.

  • Systems thinker with the ability to cut through complexity.

  • Credibility to say “no” and the authority to make it stick.
